By placing the insulation on the outside, you move the temperature difference away from the wall structure, reducing the risk of condensation and mould growth inside. This method, however, requires excavation along the entire basement wall, which demands careful planning, safety measures, and proper drainage.
Planning and Preparation
Before you start digging, make sure to check the following:

Waterproofing and Insulation
Once the drainage is in place, the basement wall must be waterproofed before insulation is applied. Use a bitumen-based or polymer-modified waterproof coating in two layers, making sure it extends down to the foundation base.
